Description
Trackside telephones, spaced at fairly frequent intervals, are a vitalnecessity on most railroads. These phones are usually sheltered in shanties orin a box mounted on telegraph poles, and connected to a dispatcher’s oroperator’s train line or the nearest interlocking tower or station.
